Mr. Pruvot was 63 years old, and is survived by five children and his widow. Mr. Pruvot served in the office of city electrician for about twenty-five years, from the time it became a regular department of city affairs. He was appointed to the position two weeks ago by the new city council. He had resided in Sioux City for nearly forty years. He was a member of the old volunteer fire department for several years. The flames had gained great headway before it was discovered by the firemen. While in the fire department Mr. Pruvot devoted much of his time to the study of electricity. His aptitude in the work gained him the position of city electrician. After he held that office for a few years, he was appointed superintendent of the alarm system, but later was reinstated to the first position and this he held until his death. Arthur J. Pruvot, his son has been his assistant for nine years. Mr. Pruvot was born in Doual, France on August 8, 1853. When he was 18 years old, he came to America, settling first at Quebec.
